Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that originated in England and is played between two teams, each consisting of eleven players. The game is played on a large circular or oval-shaped field, with a 22-yard long pitch at its center where most of the action takes place.

One team bats, attempting to score runs by hitting a ball bowled at them with a bat, while the other team bowls and fields, aiming to dismiss the batsmen and prevent runs from being scored. Runs are scored when batsmen run between the wickets or hit the ball over the boundary for four or six runs.

Cricket matches can vary in format, including Test matches, which are played over five days, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches, which are shorter and typically completed in a single day. The sport has specific rules governed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is played professionally in many countries worldwide, particularly in nations such as India, Australia, England, and Pakistan. Cricket fosters strategic thinking, teamwork, and sportsmanship among players.
