Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is primarily played using the feet, but players can use any part of their body except their hands and arms to control the ball, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area.

Football is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), and it is one of the most widely played and watched sports in the world. The term “football” can refer to different codes of sport depending on the region; for instance, in the United States and Canada, it often refers to American football. However, in most other countries, it denotes what is known in the U.S. as soccer. The sport has a rich history, with professional leagues and international tournaments, the most notable being the FIFA World Cup. Football emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and it plays a significant role in the culture and social life of many countries.
