Pokémon

Pokémon, short for “Pocket Monsters,” refers to a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, which debuted in 1996 by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The franchise centers around fictional creatures called Pokémon, which humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other for sport. Pokémon can evolve into stronger forms, and many have unique abilities and characteristics. The franchise includes video games, trading card games, an animated television series, movies, merchandise, and more. The main premise often involves trainers capturing Pokémon, training them, and competing in battles, while also completing a Pokédex, an in-game encyclopedia of Pokémon species. Over the years, Pokémon has become a significant part of popular culture and has expanded into various generations, each introducing new Pokémon, regions, and game mechanics.
